Wholesome Health Promotion (WHP) has formally launched its Cholera awareness and prevention campaign in Cameroon with the placing of sensitization billboards in the towns Buea and Limbe in the Southwest region.

The billboards encourage the public to use safe water and cook food well before consumption.

Cholera is a severe diarrheal infection caused by eating food or drinking water contaminated with the cholera bacteria.

Cholera has become a recurrent problem in Cameroon in recent years, particularly in the Southwest region/Fako division. According to the World Health Organization (WHO),there was a total of 6652 suspected Cholera cases including 134 deaths between 29 October 2021 and 30 April 2022.

According to CRTV, in May 2022 alone, Fako Division (where Buea and Limbe are located) registered over 400 cholera cases and 12 deaths in just three days.

In July, WHP organized a Cholera awareness and prevention workshop at the Buea Town maternity.
