After a successful workshop in Buea last May, the Wholesome Health Promotion (WHP) team is excited to take its food safety message this December to the beautiful city of BAMENDA, in the Northwest region of Cameroon.

Just as in Buea, the need for the workshop is obvious: In Cameroon, as in other parts of Africa, food safety is a major health issue due to poor hygiene, poor conditions in food production, inadequate food storage, among others
In Nkwen, Ntamulung, Ntarikon, Big Mankon, and other parts of Bamenda, vendors prepare and sell perishable foods in open air markets and on the streets in unsanitary environments, with little attention to packaging and preservation to guard against contamination and decay. Consumers, on the other hand, prepare and eat these unsafe foods with disastrous health consequences, particularly for vulnerable segments of the population such as children, pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with chronic diseases.

The Bamenda workshop will seek to educate community stakeholders on how to ensure food safety at all stages of the food chain, from farm to plate.

We need your help!

To make the workshop a reality, WHP needs to raise at least $4000 by October 31, 2017.

Please donate whatever amount you can afford to make this project a resounding success. No amount is too small in this effort to build healthy and thriving communities in Cameroon.

Donations to Wholesome Health Promotion are tax deductible for U.S. taxpayers.

Check with your tax preparer for details. All contributors will receive a letter acknowledging receipt of their gift that can be used for tax preparation.
